Good girl Leah’s tidy world pivoted off course when bad-boy Ryan flashed his smile. For the first time, Leah feels needed and has a purpose. Keep Ryan in line. Once the give-and-take of married life became difficult, Ryan turned abusive to his wife and evidently to his young child. Leah made the courageous decision to keep her son safe. She takes a position as a home schoolteacher and nanny in the Sandhills of western Nebraska which she hoped would be the last place her husband would look.
Tom Anderson fell in love with Susie in the third grade. They believed that their life was perfect, and that their bliss would never end. Only four years later, Susie struggles with cancer and begs, “Find Tommy and Lucy a mother who is loving and strong.”
Tom cannot begin to envision life without the love of his life. But he must hide his grief to care for his two young children.
Leah’s courage and Tom’s grief will be tested when they are thrown together at the Tumbling A ranch.
A jolt runs up Leah’s back when she meets Tom. But she is still a married woman and the mother of a toddler.
He can’t help but focus on her lips. But his heart is still locked with grief.
Suddenly his smile fades. “Are you the new nanny?” With a snap of his reins, he rides off in a cloud of dust. When Ryan finds where his wife has taken their child, he demands punishment.
Everyone’s future becomes turned up-side down when Ryan locates Leah and plans to make her pay.
