About How I Found Myself by Luna Tibling
Permanently free LGBT+ romance!
Barry is aggressive, abusive and the most prejudiced individual Skylar has ever met.
Following their dad’s premature death, Skylar had hoped that their mum would find a new boyfriend, but she couldn’t have chosen a worse man: it has been clear to Skylar from the beginning that Barry will not accept them for who they are.
Skylar already struggles with their own depression, but now that Barry is in their life to stay, they risk alienating themself from their one remaining parent. The best hope Skylar has of overcoming both obstacles is the support from their love life, but it would be impossible to reason with Barry if he knew the nature of the relationship…
The tension and uncertainty increase with each day the issue goes unresolved. Skylar will have to face Barry eventually, but how can they do that, and what will the consequences be?
They certainly won’t be doing it alone.
How I Found Myself is the introductory novella to Luna Tibling’s series Beyond the Binary. The series delves deeply into mental health and all aspects of the LGBT+ community, including the experiences of transgender and non-binary characters, polyamory, asexuality and the difficulties of coming out of the closet. (Skylar is non-binary and uses singular ‘they’.)

Like Skylar, I am openly non-binary; I am happy with they/them or she/her pronouns. I have also suffered extensively with depression, and have used writing as a means of coping.
I was writing poetry and short stories for several years before taking the daunting step of publishing my work; it is a thrill to finally start sharing my dream series with you. I hope this and all future instalments will strike a chord with LGBT+ readers and allies alike.
As well as writing, I enjoy acting and singing, and am a member of two amateur dramatics groups. I also love cats! (Who doesn’t?)
