About Love, Despair and Other Heartaches
Cathy was extremely restless since returning from a recent conference in Boston. There was no doubt in her mind why she felt this way: she had met a colleague named Dan during the trip. After spending an evening with him at the bar, Cathy accepted an invitation to his hotel room. The chemistry between them was undeniable, but she managed to leave before anything terribly improper happened. Still, she could not get him out of her mind.
She contacted Dan once she returned home and, after several conversations and much deliberation, Cathy made arrangements to meet him. What she didn’t foresee was their weekend tryst developing into a full-blown, long-term relationship. Nor could she ever predict something as special as what they had eventually deteriorating the horrible way it did.
