Monica Nelson began her writing career in her 12th summer. While her neighborhood friends were playing, she sat in the backyard under a tree, writing her first romance novel. It was dreadful.
Growing up, she decided that writing was not in her skill set. She took other jobs, but the writing bug nagged at her conscience, leading her to make a mid-life career change. She initially found success writing technical documentation during the dot-com bubble, which satisfied her for a while. As her desire to write expanded, she branched into blog posts, an editorial column in a local newspaper, and marketing materials.
She continued to study the craft, hone her skills, and practice. She finished and published a memoir in 2022. Immediately, she began work on that long-neglected romance novel that had been trying to emerge from her for decades. She finished and published it in 2024.
She enjoys many forms of writing, including fiction, nonfiction, and memoir.
She lives in an eastern Nebraska town with her husband, dog, and cat.
